China introduced non-automatic export licensing for SmCo magnets and NdFeB magnets containing dysprosium or terbium.
Export licensing changed magnet lead times
A China-made NdFeB grade containing dysprosium or terbium can require a non-automatic export licence that remains unresolved for 60–120 days or longer, with no statutory review period. We identify that exposure and potential manufacturing options before you compare delivery dates.
For OEM procurement, engineering and supply-chain teams in North America and Europe.
Export timing
A factory quotation may show when a magnet can be made while leaving a separate licensing delay outside the promised schedule. That distinction belongs at the start of the sourcing decision.
China introduced non-automatic export licensing for SmCo magnets and NdFeB magnets containing dysprosium or terbium.
Shipments of yttrium, dysprosium and terbium remain approximately 50% below the period before the controls began.
Production, export approval and freight must be stated separately before two delivery dates can be compared.
If your quotation doesn't separate export approval from production time, the delay shows up after you've already committed the production schedule.
Why Cardinal
We separate standard grades from high-coercivity suffixes and record whether dysprosium or terbium changes the export path. Check your grade
Publicly identified options include Neo Performance Materials in Narva, Noveon Magnetics, Vacuumschmelze in Sumter, TDK and Shin-Etsu in Japan, and planned SGI Vina capacity in Vietnam. These are potential sources identified from public information, not contracted suppliers. See the dated supply map
The same drawing, grade, coating, origin definition, volume and delivery assumptions go to each potential source so you compare like with like. Use the RFQ checklist
Cardinal is paid a commission by the selected manufacturer. There is no fee or markup on your side: the quoted price is the same with Cardinal or without.
